*LILIUM*

Aunque haya tenido un retorno de vacaciones muy duro no me da la gana de acabar el día sin postear el MONDAYS&FLOWERS que tenía pensado para hoy.  La flor elegida es el Lilium. Me gustan todas sus variedades, colores y el olor que desprenden. Me pareció una buena invitación para entrar en este bar Chileno el cual servían café Vietnamita! Ay que rico el cà phê sữa đá

Although I have had a very hard holiday return I didn’t want to end up my day without posting the MONDAYS & FLOWERS that I had in my mind for today. The Lilium is the chosen flower. I like all types, colors and their smell. I found that it was good invitation card to enter to this Chilean bar where they served Vietnamese coffee! Oh that yummy Ca Phe Sua.

*MIMOSA & LEMON*

Poco después de fijar el color amarillo para el reto de Enero llegaron al trabajo unas bolsas de un proveedor con unas fotos muy chulas. Y la vi.  Vi la Mimosa y pensé que era perfecta para el reto. Sobretodo porqué se publicaba en Lunes y sería parte de mi sección Mondays & Flowers. Es una planta que precisamente florece durante los meses de Enero, Febrero y Marzo. Y la verdad es que viene muy bien para alegrar un poco estos días de frío y  lluvia. En condiciones normales hubiera ido a buscar las flores al Jardín de mi madre y los limones al limonero de mi hermano. Como me gusta, flores y frutos de temporada. Pero como me he quedado en Barcelona me ha tocado ir a la floristería. He aprovechado para hacer un pequeño estudio de mercado. Y mi conclusión es que como las frutas, si compramos flores de temporada no son tan caras. Los ramos de Mimosa los he encontrado desde 2,95 euros hasta 6 o sea que insisto, poner flores en nuestra casa no cuesta tanto. Espero que os guste mi composición.

Soon after setting  yellow as the  color of the January challenge, a few bags with a very cool photos  arrived at work . And I saw them. I saw the Mimosa and I thought it was perfect for the challenge. Especially because it was published on Monday and it would be part of my  Mondays & Flowers  section. This plant flourishes precisely during the months of  January, February and March. It is very handy to have a bright bouquet at home to cheer us up these cold and rainy days. Under normal conditions I'd have been to my mother's garden to get the flowers  and  to my brother's to get the lemons from the lemon tree. I enjoy flowers and seasonal fruits. But as I've been in Barcelona this weekend, I  had to go to the florist's. I took this opportunity to do  a little market research. My conclusion is that the same as fruits, i seasonal flowers are not that expensive. I could buy Mimosa bouquets from 2.95 euros to 6. So that, I insist on using flowers as decoration doesn't cost so much! I hope you enjoy my composition.

*ROSES & MORE*

Estoy descubriendo que entre Sara y yo hay más conexiones de las que podía imaginar. La semana pasada ella me envió el post de las * RED ROSES* para mis lunes de flores. El mismo día fui a casa de mi madre y había el ramo que podéis ver en la foto de arriba. Las dos con rosas recogidas de sus propios jardines en lugares opuestos del mundo, el mismo día. Aunque mi madre  lo había complementado con Hortensias y hojas de Magnolia. No dejéis nunca de poner flores en vuestra vida.  Y si son de vuestro propio jardín mucho mejor. Espero poder hacerlo yo algún día.

I am dicovering that Sara and I have more connected that I could never imagine. Last week she sent me the post "RED ROSES" for my Monday's flowers posts. The same day I went to my mum's house and I saw the bouquet you can see above. Both have freshly picked roses from their own gardens on opposite sides of the world. The simple things are often the best, and you can do them no matter where you live - well almost anywhere. My mother complemented the roses with hydrangea and magnolia leaves. Cheer up your home and yourself with fresh flowers. And if they are from your own garden, much better! I wish could also pick fresh flowers from my own garden one day.

*RED ROSES*

Red roses. These have just been freshly picked from my own garden. Their perfume smells just beautiful. My garden is full of roses. When we first moved in to this house I planned to remove all the rose bushes. I hated the look and spines of roses. But once I realised how much work it is to remove the entire bush, i decided to leave them be. Now I've grown to love them. I pick the roses every week to display in my kitchen. Where I get to appreciate their vibrant colours and smell all week long.
Often I keep the roses and let them dry out. They can then be tied together and hung upside down, giving a rustic look to any space.

Rosas rojas.  Las acabo de cortar de mi propio jardín que está lleno de ellas y huelen muy bien. Cuando nos mudamos a esta casa pensaba eliminar los rosales. Odiaba sus espinas y verlos en el jardín. Cuando me di cuenta de todo el trabajo que significaba acabar con todos ellos, decidí dejarlos. Ahora me gustan mucho y aún más cortar las rosas todas las semanas y poner un bonito ramo en mi cocina.
A veces las corto y las dejo secar atadas boca abajo. Dan un toque muy rústico allá donde estén.

*GREENING SMALL SPACES*

I  love plants and seeing new ways to display them. Here is a creative way to use small pot pants to fill up a small space. It's also a very inexpensive vertical garden! I came across this outside an Asian restaurant on busy Fitzroy St in Melbourne Australia's trendy suburb of St Kilda. 

Here they have chosen three plants and repeated them across the full row for effect. You could also grow a wall of strawberries or plant your choice of herbs. I love this idea to green a balcony or small courtyard. 

The same effect can be created by just using shelves and placing pots on top of the shelf. Using one type of pot and selecting the same plant or a small number of plants and repeating them will create a beautiful display.

Me gustan las plantas y nuevas maneras de combinarlas. Aquí se puede ver una manera muy creativa de usar macetas para decorar una pared.  Es un jardín vertical económico!  Lo descubrí en un Restaurante Asiático de Fitzroy St en el barrio de moda  melbourniense de St. Kilda.

Han elegido tres plantas distintas y han utilizado el truco de la repetición para dar un bonito efecto visual. Se puede hacer con fresas por ejemplo  o cualquier otra planta que elijamos.  Me encanta esta idea  para un balcón o un pequeño jardín.

El mismo efecto puede ser creado con estanterías y colocando las macetas de la misma forma.

* PURPLE: PANTONE 266 C *

Aquí va mi aportación al reto. El único requisito VIOLETA. A partir de aquí podemos hacer volar la imaginación. La verdad es que la idea surgió hace tiempo. Corría agosto cuando nos propusimos hacer esto.  A mi al cabo de un par de días de hablar de la idea... ZAS! Me vino a la cabeza una foto que le hice a una de mis hermanas con unas flores muy peculiares. Las flores de la alcachofa. Con ellas me apetecía hacer algo de decoración. Y la inspiración me llevo hasta este ramo de flores de alcachofas transformado en lámpara de comedor.

Como se hizo? Primero empecé con las flores . Pero como siempre le faltaba un toque. Un toque de iluminación sobretodo  porque la luz del atardecer era traidora y lo que a media tarde era un violeta brillante después era un azul violáceo. Sin luz no había reto!

PD: Comento que la idea inicial fue en Agosto porque en ese momento fue cuando hice el post. Nunca se debe dejar escapar los momentos de inspiración. Y este post pasa a formar parte de Los Lunes con  flores de Temporada. 

*THREE LITTLE MORE*

El blog de http://sopanormal.blogspot.com.es/ tiene una iniciativa que me gusta mucho. Para ellas los Lunes necesitan música! Hoy he decidido que, no todos, pero los míos tendrán FLORES! Porque tanto la música como las flores nos alegran el día.

A poder ser las flores de temporada.  Recogidas en el bosque, campo, jardín... Este granado asilvestrado estaba en el margen de un camino. Una vez en casa le faltaba un toque. Lo he encontrado sacándome la camiseta que llevaba puesta  ;-)

This blog http://sopanormal.blogspot.com.es/ has an initiative that I like so much. For them Monday needs music! Today I decided that, not all of them , but mines will have FLOWERS! Because  music and  flowers make us have a happier day. 

If it is possible it will be seasonable flowers. Picked in the forest, fields, gardens... This pomegranate was on the side of the road. Once I got home I realised the photo was something missing. I realised the t-shirt I was wearing would fill that gap perfectly.
